much to learn... that's a fucking lie! i have yet to be able to draw a decent head and face with a decent body from different angles without it looking horrible not to mention getting used to the key options in paint tool sai and my drawing pad. Your already great beyond most artists!
I don't have any special words for this one, but simply that this whole story took me the first time I saw it, and seeing this panel taken so far... Ah, I just love seeing your work in any stage it seems.
I love this pic and how you manage to simulate the textures on it. You made a lot of progress with your colors, but I know you can do event better so I have to comment on this.
The drawing is strong and communicate lots of feelings, but the colors can't seem to bring up the same feelings. I'd recomend using contrast more. Make the shadow really dark and the light brighter to increase tension. Also, when feeling like sadness come into play, using unsaturated colors could help. And finally, The foreground character doesn't stand out and I think it should. Maybe a subtle cast shadow kind of effect could do it. Not sure though, but there is something missing.
Yeah, Me and my friend *CatbeeCache have been talking a lot about contrast. At one point, the contrast in this picture was pretty good, but later on as I added more stuff, I'm afraid I have a habit of layering stuff on top of my highlighting which really detracts from the picture as a whole.
In any case, Contrast is one of my newer missions in coloring. It not a mtter of knowing that it's a problem, right now I've been trying ot learn how to fix it. <3
If you know that you layer things over your shadow, then you have to try to start with higher contrast. It may be unsetting because you will think it is too much but it will be okay in the end.
Also, contrast isn't only about light/dark. It is also, cold/hot colors, saturated/unsaturated colors, complementary colors, or even the quantity of a color compared to the others. In a composed image like this one, use one or many of those contrast to emphasize on one or two element only, this would make the whole picture easier to read and enter.
Holy freaking cow! When I first this I was blown away by how epic and how much emotion it gave off, but seeing it in colour... it's just... whoa... beyond any words .
Seriously just looking at this scene you can see that she is making the sacrifice for Croc and it is one of those scenes that hits you to the point where you are left with a speechless expression to say how deep this is.
